# ⏰ Follow ups

Campaigns are good at getting the first reply. They are awkward at keeping the conversation alive.

Someone replies to your lemlist campaign. You answer. Then the thread goes quiet.

At that point, the campaign has already stopped. Your choices are usually a reminder you may ignore, a note you may never see, or another campaign for one person. All you wanted was a quick nudge.

## Follow-ups live inside the conversation

TalkToHumans lets you write the next message while you are still in the chat. Pick a time, move on, and let the conversation decide what happens.

You skip the new campaign, the task in another tool, and the need to remember the thread next week.

This works for the small, informal messages that keep real conversations moving:

→ checking whether a question is still relevant
→ sharing the link you promised
→ nudging after a proposal or introduction
→ picking up a useful conversation after a busy week
→ asking for the next step without restarting the whole pitch

## Schedule one follow-up

    Reply to the person, then draft the next nudge in the same composer before leaving the conversation. You can write from scratch, insert a [template](/docs/product/messaging/templates-and-variables), or use an [AI action](/docs/product/messaging/ai-writing).

    Open the schedule menu beside the send button, or press `Cmd + Shift + Enter` on macOS or `Ctrl + Shift + Enter` on Windows.

    Pick a preset such as later today, tomorrow, in 3 days, or next week. You can also choose a custom date and time.

    The message appears in the scheduled panel above the composer. Check the wording, recipient, and send time.

## What happens when they reply?

Every new schedule starts with **Stop if person replies** enabled.

When TalkToHumans detects a new inbound reply before the step runs, it cancels the pending follow-up. This prevents the awkward message that arrives after the conversation has already moved on.

You can change this behavior from the schedule settings menu, but leave it on for normal prospecting and relationship workflows.

  Stop-on-reply depends on the conversation syncing before the scheduled action runs. Keep the extension enabled and LinkedIn logged into the matching account.

## Edit or cancel a follow-up

Open the scheduled panel in the conversation. From there you can:

→ Edit the message.\
→ Change the date or time.\
→ Copy the message back into the composer.\
→ Delete the step.\
→ Pause or resume the full schedule.

For the first three scheduled steps, you can press `1`, `2`, or `3` to edit the matching step. Press `P` to pause or resume the schedule.

## Does my browser need to stay open?

Chrome must be running, the extension must be enabled, and the matching LinkedIn account must be logged in when the step becomes due.

If that execution path is unavailable, TalkToHumans keeps the scheduled state and waits. It does not send from a detached cloud session.

## Follow-up or sequence?

Use a single scheduled follow-up when you are already talking and want to keep that specific conversation moving.

Use a [sequence](/docs/product/messaging/sequences) when you want to reuse the same connection request and message cadence across selected people.

  A schedule should remove memory work, not judgment. Review the message while you still remember why this person matters.
