# 📥 Inbox

LinkedIn gives you one long list. Fine when you have 5 DMs. Pretty brutal when those DMs are your pipeline.

TalkToHumans turns the list into a queue of decisions, so you always know why a conversation is still sitting there.

For each conversation, decide what happens next:

→ Reply now.<br />→ Schedule the next step.<br />→ Tag the person so the conversation appears in a focused inbox.<br />→ Keep it unread or favorite it when you still need to decide.<br />→ Archive it when no action remains.

## A simple daily workflow

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open a focused inbox">
    Start with an inbox that represents a real decision, such as unread replies, warm leads, or conversations waiting on you.

    If you have not created one yet, use your default inbox and keep going. Do not turn setup into a project.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the first conversation">
    Read the thread and check the person and company context in the right sidebar. Add a note or tag if it will help future you.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Take one action">
    Reply, schedule a follow-up, change the relationship tag, mark the thread unread, or archive it.

    The queue stays useful when every open conversation has a reason to stay there.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Move to the next item">
    Press `J` for the next conversation or `K` for the previous one. If your action removes the current conversation from the view, TalkToHumans moves through the remaining queue.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Core inbox actions

| Action                 | Shortcut  | Use it when                                                                                          |
| ---------------------- | --------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Mark read or unread | `U` | Opening a message does not mean you handled it. Keep it unread until you make a deliberate decision. |
| Favorite or unfavorite | `S` | A conversation deserves extra attention but does not fit a clean workflow state yet. |
| Archive or unarchive | `E` | No action remains and you want it out of active views. |
| Edit tags | `L` | You want to record stage, ownership, priority, or relationship type. |
| Next / previous        | `J` / `K` | You are working a view as a queue.                                                                   |
| Focus composer         | `Enter`   | You are ready to reply.                                                                              |

## Archive without losing the thread

Archiving removes a conversation from views that show active conversations. It does not delete the LinkedIn conversation or its history.

To find it again, open your **Archived** inbox. If that inbox is hidden, use the settings icon beside **Inboxes** to move it back into the visible group.

<Warning>
  `Opened`, `read`, and `handled` are different states. If you use unread as a reminder, press `U` after opening a conversation you still need to process.
</Warning>

## Search across conversations

Press `Cmd + K` on macOS or `Ctrl + K` on Windows to open conversation search. Search is the fastest way to recover an old thread without changing your inbox setup.
