# ➕ Import

Found someone worth talking to? Save them while the reason is still obvious.

TalkToHumans syncs your existing network and lets you add people you have not connected with yet. The fastest path starts on the person's LinkedIn profile, where the [smart embed](/docs/product/contacts/smart-embed) saves them without a spreadsheet detour.

## Import a person from their profile

    Visit the person's LinkedIn profile in the Chrome profile connected to TalkToHumans.

  <Step title="Find the TalkToHumans panel">
    The extension adds a TalkToHumans section to supported profiles. If the person is missing from your workspace, the panel shows **Import**.

  <Step title="Import the person">
    Click the import action. TalkToHumans saves the current LinkedIn identity as a contact and makes it available in contact views.

  <Step title="Choose the next step">
    Open the person's TalkToHumans chat, add a tag or note, or open the sequence list to schedule a connection request and follow-up flow.

## When the person is already imported

The profile panel becomes a compact relationship workspace. Depending on available data, it can show:

→ Tags and notes.<br />→ Whether you are connected.<br />→ Whether a conversation exists.<br />→ The last message date.<br />→ An active sequence and its next step.

LinkedIn's native **Message** button can also open the TalkToHumans sidebar for that person. This gives you templates, scheduling, sequences, AI actions, and audio messages without leaving the profile.

## Connected, imported, or messaged?

These states are different:

| State               | Meaning                                                                     |
| ------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Connected           | The person is a first-degree LinkedIn connection.                           |
| Imported            | The person exists as a TalkToHumans contact, even if you are not connected. |
| Conversation exists | LinkedIn has a message thread for the relationship.                         |
| Sequence active     | TalkToHumans has one or more upcoming steps for the person.                 |

This distinction helps you build views around pending invitations, new connections with no messages, old relationships, and people ready for follow-up.

## Import through the API or MCP

For a researched list, the API and MCP can import contacts from `linkedin.com/in/` profile URLs. The MCP calls the import tool once per person, so it can continue through a list while keeping an individual result for each profile.

Importing does not send a LinkedIn message or connection request. Ask the AI to add tags, notes, a contact view, and drafts, then review the result in TalkToHumans.
